This month, we introduce you to our desktop support team leader, who has just taken on the role as mentor-in-chief to all our apprentices, although he won’t be saying ‘you’re fired’ to any of them.
Having joined StoneHouse in April 2009, Matt has impressed colleagues and clients alike and seen his responsibilities snowball. Let’s pick his brains…
You are… Matthew Whittaker, aged 28 from Clayton-Le-Moors
Role at StoneHouse: As well as dealing with some of the more serious hardware and software issues for our customers, I mentor and train our numerous apprentices. I started my career with a modern apprenticeship so know how they feel!
Biggest achievement at work: Becoming the team leader of our apprentices. I jumped at the opportunity, as having started my career as an apprentice I was keen to pass on my knowledge and help mentor them.
Favourite past time: Treading the tarmac – I’m big on road running. The Manchester 10k was my most recent challenge, and I raised a good sum for Cancer Research UK in the process.
What’s the next big thing? 3D printing – being able to print off a physical design could change the way manufacturers produce their products.
Number one IT tip: I can’t stress it enough, make sure you have a working backup. Get your IT to configure it to email you every day. The day it fails will be the day you need it.
